“Under the Telescope”, 4 of 4 works, ceramic, 2023

Series of 2’x2’ Petri dishes, weighing up to pounds each. The pieces were individually constructed, fired, and glazed throughout April and May of 2023. The disks were intended to articulate a chronology of magnification, growing increasingly more complex than the last. In this work I gravitate towards a more abstract representation of human anatomy and biology in an attempt to explore its beauty. The building techniques used included slabs/ coils/ pinch pots for individual nuclei and also using molds or external objects for texture.
